Systems Architecture

Architecting the proper server environment for your applications and your enterprise requires considering a number of factors:

  • What is the best operating system for the task at hand?
  • What operating system will your system administrators know how to maintain?
  • What operating system will meet the scaling requirements of this application and of your enterprise?
It's not just a question of Microsoft Windows vs. Unix. If you select Unix, is it best to use Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, or one of the Linux flavors?

Once you have selected an operating system, system sizing becomes a serious consideration. Do you require an Enterprise 4500, or will a 420R meet your requirements? How much RAM will your application require? What about when the number of users doubles?

Making the right choices in the beginning prevents problems from occuring in later stages. Moving a business critical application to a larger server can interrupt your business, which will cost you money. Moving an application to a different platform can reveal unknown bugs and involve long testing cycles and migration plans. Living with the wrong choice can be worse.

NSAi brings years of experience in making the right decisions to your project. Our engineering staff has experience with Microsoft Windows, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, BSD Unix, Linux, and NetWare. We have the capability to consider a wide range of current technologies to best implement your application platform.
