SMARTS InCharge Application Services Manager

InCharge Application Services Manager applies a holistic end-to-end approach, managing resources across different IT domains in a correlated fashion. This cross-domain correlation is essential, because the network, system and application resources supporting the service are interdependent, and thus must not only work well individually, but also together with one another. The "silo" approach of managing IT resources individually cannot achieve this goal. InCharge Application Services Manager uses the SMARTS InCharge Common Information Model (ICIM), based on the DMTF's CIM standard, to abstract and model application services and their rich relationships to network, system, and application resources as well as to business elements such as service offerings and clients. SMARTS Codebook Correlation Technology leverages this information to automatically pinpoint root cause problems and their impacts, both within and across technology domains. The result is the actionable information necessary to maintain the highest quality of service to clients.

InCharge Application Services Manager offers the following primary capabilities:

  • Monitors service delivery. InCharge Application Services Manager measures service performance by leveraging third-party tools and importing relevant events and data from other InCharge applications. InCharge Application Services Manager monitors application services comprising application processes, sessions, transactions, servers, and network elements. hosts, and network connections as well as business elements such as service offerings and clients. Topology can be imported in many ways including: XML, ASCII files, adapters to other application or asset management tools, or via the InCharge API.
  • Integrates and correlates application performance with the health of other IT resources. InCharge Application Services Manager integrates and correlates application data with the health of resources in the network, server, and other IT domains, for end-to-end analysis of problems affecting service delivery.
  • Performs root cause and impact analysis. InCharge Application Services Manager analyzes several types of authentic service-affecting problems including:
    • Complete disruption
    • Degradation, where services are being delivered, but performance is unacceptable
      • At-risk, where additional failures will disrupt service InCharge Application Services Manager places actionable information for sustaining service at your fingertips,
      • Providing improved profitability, competitive advantage, and reduced operational costs.
